Scholarships Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility:

You are eligible for a BBPA National Scholarship if you are a Black student who is:

  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Between 17 and 30 years of age
  • Enrolled in full-time study at a Canadian college or university; and
  • Who has satisfied the application requirements

Selection Criteria:

  • High academic achievement
  • Financial Need
  • Recognized contribution to the Black community
  • Individual scholarships may specify additional requirements

Application Requirements:

  • Completed application form
  • A letter describing why you are worthy of the scholarship
  • A completed financial information schedule stating your budget for the coming academic year
  • Two letters of reference, one academic, one community
  • An up to date official transcript
  • Two good quality photos – head and shoulders shot

Deadline for Submission of Applications: The last Friday in the month of May each year.

We receive several applications each year and regrettably are unable to grant scholarships to all applicants. If your application was unsuccessful, you will not be notified or advised of the reasons for which your application was declined; however we urge you not to be discouraged and to apply again in the future.
