Osborne G. Barnwell was born in St.Vincent and the Grenadines. Since making Canada his home over thirty five years ago, he has showcased his passion to serve the disadvantaged in his community. Osborne spent many years volunteering as a Big brother and an adult education tutor in Toronto and finds fulfillment by watching others flourish and grow.
Osborne currently is the BBPA’s governance director, which is consistent with his legal background as a lawyer of eighteen years. As a lawyer, his fervor for fair treatment is demonstrated by his area of practice; which includes but not limited to immigration, human rights (racial profiling) law and employment law. Osborne provides pro-bono legal services to many deserving members in his community.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Osborne was a Certified General Accountant (CGA) and worked as a senior auditor with Canada Revenue Agency. His accounting background has positioned him well to take on the Treasurer’s position on the Board of a vibrant and vital non-profit organization in Toronto called SKETCH. That organization provides solutions and builds relationships with homeless youths through art, music and drama to bring about positive change in their lives.
Osborne academic accomplishments include a B.A. in Economics (UWO, London, Ont); Hons. B. Comm. (UOW, Windsor, Ont); LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and is currently pursuing the Master of Laws program at Osgoode Hall Law school.
